ABOUT TRAILERBOUNTY

Your next sighting could
be a reward opportunity.

TrailerBounty connects people who spot missing equipment with the carriers looking for it. When a carrier offers a reward, the finder and carrier work directly to verify the sighting and arrange payment under the carrier’s terms.

THE FOUNDER’S STORY

An idea that started
on the road.

Matthew Murphy
Founder, TrailerBounty

Matthew’s personal account of the experiences behind TrailerBounty.

2022: Four containers. A reward for each.

In 2022, while I was working for J.B. Hunt, I found four stolen J.B. Hunt intermodal containers. My employer paid me a $500 reward for each one, on top of my normal pay.

That experience showed me the value of a useful sighting—for the carrier looking for its equipment and for the person who finds it. Those rewards came from my employer and predated TrailerBounty.

2026: A recurring sighting. A missing connection.

In 2026, I kept seeing the same trailer in my area, roughly every two to three weeks over about three months. I reached out to the carrier and did not receive a reply. Its status remained unconfirmed.

That experience brought the idea back into focus: a place where carriers can identify the equipment they are looking for, and people who spot it can get the details to the right carrier.

Why I’m building TrailerBounty.

I want the person who notices a trailer number, recognizes a container or shares a useful photo to have a clear next step. A carrier can review that sighting, coordinate recovery through the appropriate channels and, when a reward is offered, deal directly with the finder.

That is the connection TrailerBounty is being built to make.

The 2022 account describes Matthew’s past employment experience. Mention of J.B. Hunt does not imply sponsorship or endorsement of TrailerBounty.

OBSERVE. REPORT. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE.

A sighting is a lead.

Let the carrier verify the equipment and coordinate recovery with the appropriate authorities. Do not confront anyone, trespass, follow a vehicle or attempt a recovery yourself. Park safely before using your phone. For an emergency or immediate danger, call 911.
